Pull out all the stops

There are times when you may need all hands on deck to complete a task, project or to solve a problem. As an entrepreneur your job is to bring people and opportunity together to solve a problem in the market and sometimes those problems require a little extra effort. People generally need a goal to work towards but they also need to be lead. Your job is to help your team achieve the outcomes they (and you) are seeking.

1 AM on February 23. That was the time Elon Musk called an all-hands meeting with his team at Space X to figure out why their factory wasn’t working 24/7 to finish their Starship rocket system. The team said they didn’t have enough help. The decision was made to double their workforce by 252 people over 48 hours. An extreme decision was made by getting everyone involved in the problem and applying pressure to ensure the result. Gwynne Shotwell, President of Space X, has been quoted as saying “I think all the time and all the money in the world does not yield the best solution, and so putting that pressure on the team to move quickly is really important.”

What big task or project does your business need to finish? If you were able to rally your team to solve a big problem in your business, what would it be? If you don’t have an answer to either of these questions then maybe your business is doing just fine. It may be more likely that your business isn’t trying hard enough to tackle big opportunities. Every now and then it can be helpful to pull out all the stops, get all hands on deck and complete a major project in your business. Not only does it bring your team together it can help your business get to the next level.
