About Dylan

I’m interested in
what a business
makes of its owner.

I write from inside the work about how businesses create value, develop people, and become strong enough to operate without consuming the person who started them.

My path has taken me through finance, brokerage, service businesses, software, team building, and new ventures. The industries have changed, but the questions have remained remarkably consistent.

What problem are we solving? Are we making it easier for people to succeed? Is this business becoming an asset, or just a demanding job? If it succeeds, what will that success make possible?

My Christian faith shapes how I answer those questions. I believe business is an act of stewardship: of people, resources, opportunities, and responsibility. Profit matters, but it is not the final purpose. A good business creates value, develops people, and gives its owner greater capacity to serve.

I write from inside that work, not after neatly figuring it all out.
