So today is day one of five and I am hopeful that I can complete what I have set out to do. This is a very busy time with all of the competing priorities in our life. Your mom is trying very hard to get a rhythm going but will need more time to figure out how to homeschool everyone and keep our home together. I do what I can but during the week I am only here hours at a time.
I remember the first night I met your mom and we discussed life ambitions with her telling me that all she wanted to be was a great mom. I remember thinking that the bar seemed pretty low given my point of reference in my mother. I didn't get along well with my mom until I had Cole. As it turns out, your mom had it right from day one - she is a great mom and delights in everything about being a mom. Sure it's challenging some days but she certainly find her fulfillment in being a mother. You all are so blessed.
I spent some time this morning reading the bible and thought a lot about the passage "there is no one good not even one" (Romans 3:10). Your mom and I are watching two families we (and you) know very well being torn a part by brokenness. In one case the husband/father is breaking a family a part and in the other it is the wife/mother who is breaking the family a part. It is very sad to watch and has your mom and I discussing our different perspectives on people and their actions. It is quite easy to judge and have a negative opinion but when I read the bible I can't see anywhere that we should expect anything other than broken people in a broken world breaking things a part. Our only hope is to respond to God and what he is doing. Service is the cure for a selfish broken world. I wish I was able to serve more than I do.
I chatted with Cade a few times today on iMessenger and it was neat to be connected to him during the day. His day did not start well and he told me that everyone was yelling at him. That's interesting because he would have never said that if I was in front of him but because he had to type his message he told me how he really felt - that was neat.
