Fuel to get where I am going

I had a meeting out of town this morning and when I left the house I had enough gas to get me about 23 km worth of driving distance. As my trip was approximately 70 km out of town I pulled in to a gas station before hitting the highway. While driving it occurred to me that living a life according to His Word requires that I have enough fuel to get to the destination he has planned for me. If I am not filling up on fuel (spending time praying and talking to God as well as reading and pondering His Word) it is an unreasonable expectation to think that I can hold God responsible for me falling short of the mark. If I am not giving God something to work with (my faith, my thoughts and actions) how can I then expect great things? The gas tank analogy means a lot to me today as I feel that I have been driving to get to where he wants me to go but am also pulling over to the side of the road and walking sometimes. This is happening because I am not filling up with God on a regular enough basis and keep coming to Him when I am either on empty or running on fumes. God give me the wisdom to fill up with you on a more regular basis.
