Goals are still tricky

Phillipans 3:12 to 14 tells me about Paul and the Christian race. My footnotes tell me that Paul's goal is Christ's goal for him and Christ supplies the resources for him to "press on toward the goal". I still seem to wrestle with setting goals and how to define them properly. While I seem to have no problem generating spreadsheets and calculations I still seem to get caught in "what has God given me and for what purpose do I have it (them)?". I need to develop a set of metrics or simple reference points that I can check my goals against and then look back to measure our progress. I know of Christian businesses but how do they plan properly? Do they pick financial goals and work backwards? Do they pick philosophical goals and then never hit them because they are not measurable? Lord, speak to me and help me chart a path that I can follow. I know your word says to live one day at a time but you have also blessed me with staff, clients and opportunities. Help me to understand how to plan and be a good steward of all that you have given me.
