New chapter, new year and new decade

In reading 1 Peter 1: 6 and 7: (6) In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  (7) These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. I can admit that I have never considered the notion that Jesus is revealed in the trials that are allowed into my life.  This is a powerful thought for me as I understand the idea behind being refined and strengthened by challenges however placing Jesus being revealed through a trial is very powerful.  What this means to me is that the trials entering my life could arguably be by design so that God can further His plan by using me as an instrument.  I continue to be very selfish about my life and this passage is helping me to reset my vision for the coming decade as I would like to look back in 10 years and confirm to myself that Jesus was constantly revealed in my life and that through being revealed my life took the form that God had planned for it. It is timely that my wife and I finished studying the book of Job in December and have now moved into 1 Peter.  This passage reminds me of God allowing Satan to put Job through various trials so that centuries later I could see that God prevails at the end.  Who am I to stand in the way of God?  Lord I pray that you continue to reveal yourself to me and help walk in your light.
