Sometimes God uses someone else

Last week I had the opportunity to sit with a retired business owner from my church and discuss my life, opportunities, challenges and struggles. One of the main challenges I have been wrestling with is whether or not God wants me to drop everything and do some sort of missionary type work or whether he wants me to stay the course. I have found myself looking for reasons to be frustrated with my business and this individual was able to ask me some pointed questions that have given me some direction.  He basically helped me to understand that the world needs Christian business people to do His work and that I would be in a better position to be a light as a business person than as a pastor/minister as I can relate to the individuals in my market better than a pastor/minister.  In reflecting on our conversation I took a moment to review all that I have been given and going to next year am looking to be a better steward of the resources AND opportunities He has given me.  The story of Joseph plays in my head as I think of the position I am in and the work I could do while here.  1 Peter 4:10 tells me: "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms" - and I can do this exactly where I am and even if I made the decision to change where I am God will use me there too.
